A patent trial between Samsung Electronics and Apple has opened in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California in San Jose.
At the trial presided over by U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh on Monday, 74 potential jurors were quizzed to select ten jurors for the case between the top rivals in the global smartphone market.
Concerns have emerged that the trial may not produce an appropriate verdict given that it would not be easy for ordinary jurors to understand the contents of the case which is related to cutting-edge technology.
Some 40 people, including journalists that specialize in information technology and legal issues from major broadcasters, such as BBC, NBC and NHK, attended the trial.
