In a revelation stemming from a civil litigation, Apple’s Steve Jobs had once asked Google to stop trying to recruit an Apple engineer, a violation that had even threatened a junior Google employee’s job.
According to reports, the March 2007 email from Jobs to Google’s former Chief Executive Eric Schmidt was revealed during a hearing on a civil litigation against Apple Inc, Google Inc and five other technology firms. The proposed class action, brought by five software engineers, accuses the companies of conspiring to keep employee compensation low by eliminating competition for skilled labour.
Schmidt was also an Apple board member in 2007.
