West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is on the hit-list, according to state intelligence inputs. Maoists are also planning to target other Trinamool Congress leaders including Shubhendu Adhikary and Union Minister of State, Shipping, Mukul Roy.
The Intelligence Bureau has received inputs regarding plans by the Maoists to attack Mamata and other Trinamool leaders.
The intelligence report comes just after Mamata Banerjee stepped up the anti-Maoist operation in the Jangalmahal area of West Bengal.
Sources have told CNN-IBN that they believe that the Maoists are hoping to strike one major blow and the threat level is very high, especially after the breakdown of talks with the state government.
Sources say that Mamata also needs to enhance her security and the state Intelligence Bureau is going to raise the matter with the Home Ministry, which will then take a call on reviewing her security.
