Slain Maoist leader Kishenji’s niece Deepa Rao who formally identified him at a hospital morgue here said she had documented the ‘inhuman torture’ on him by taking a photo of the body.
“You can see marks of the inhuman torture on the body. The cheek blown was away,” Deepa told mediapersons here after identifying it at the morgue of the Midnapore College College and Hospital.
Deepa said that she had taken a snap on her cellphone of the body of the Maoist politburo member who was killed in an encounter with the joint forces at Burisole jungle on Thursday to ‘document the torture’.
Maoist sympathiser and Telugu poet Varvara Rao, who accompanied Deepa, renewed his charge that the Maoist leader was tortured before being killed in a fake encounter.
“The people will see for themselves the torture and brutality on Kishenji when the body reaches Andhra Pradesh. He was killed in a fake encounter at the behest of a state government which calls itself democratic,” he said.
Slamming Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for ‘derailing’ the peace talks when Maoist leader Akash had offered a one month ceasefire, Rao said, she had instead launched an all out offensive against the ultras.
“Mamata Banerjee always does the opposite of what she says,” he alleged.
Asked how he felt that 400 persons were killed by Maoists in junglemahal in the past two years, Rao remained silent.
