Three militants have been killed in an encounter in the Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The encounter broke out when troops of 21 Rashtriya Rifles assisted by police launched an anti-insurgency operation in the forest area near Zachaldara village in Handwara.
The Army launched the counter-insurgency operation following reports of the terrorists hiding in the forests.
As the soldiers closed in on the location of terrorists, the ultras opened fire. The security forces retaliated, triggering a fierce encounter.
Five Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists were killed in the same area on March 28.
