The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which has been probing the roles of BS Yeddyurappa and his kin in the alleged illegal mining scam in the state, on Friday opposed Yeddyurappa’s anticipatory bail application in a Bangalore court.
The bail plea was filed after the CBI filed an FIR in Delhi recently following the Supreme Court’s directive for a probe report on allegations in illegal mining against BSY within three months.
The CBI claimed it has an open mind about arresting Yeddyurappa, but in a case like this custodial interrogation was absolutely necessary and just. The agency has claimed that BSY could influence witnesses.
The CBI also told the court that its complaint was not baseless or could not be construed as political harassment since it was acting on the directions of the Supreme Court.
