An accused of German Bakery blast case Qateel Siddiqui was found murdered at Pune’s high security Yerwada Jail on Friday.Siddiqui, who was also an accused in Bangalore stadium blast case.
Sources said Siddiqui was apparently strangulated by a fellow prisoner. The reason behind the murder was not known yet.
The police were looking into the matter and were questioning the jail authorities and some prisoners in connection with the sensational murder.
Siddiqui, was allegedly a Darbhanga-based Indian Mujahideen (IM) module and was considered a close aide of its chief Yasin Bhatkal. He was picked up by the Delhi Police’s special cell in December 2011.
He had revealed the plot to blow up Dagdusheth Halwai Mandir in Pune. He disclosed the planning and that how he surveyed the temple three-four times and when finally he went to accomplish the task he was shooed away by a flower vendor.
Siddiqui had a tiff with Bhatkal over the planning to blow up the temple. The Maharashtra Police’s Anti Terror Squad (ATS) had registered a separate FIR against Siddiqui in Pune.
