The Retired Army Chief General VK Singh, on Friday, arrived at Jantar Mantar and shared dais with Anna Hazare. Anna’s fast will be broken at the hands of General VK Singh, unlike his previous fasts, which were broken at the hands of the children.
Gen Singh arrived at the Team Anna protest venue shortly before the protesting activists are due to call of their fast at 5 pm.
He was seen sitting and chatting with the anti-graft crusader and other Team Anna members on the stage at Jantar Mantar.
Addressing the protesters, Hazare again gave call for a jail-bharo agitation if government did not concede to his demands for bringing in a strong Lokpal Bill. Later, the lawyer Prashant Bhushan spoke about the corruption charges against five union ministers – Sharad Pawar, Kamal Nath, Vilasrao Deshmukh, S M Krishna and Salman Khurshid.
Gen VK Singh was among 23 eminent personalities who had written a joint letter to Team Anna appealing them to end their fast and instead work towards providing a political alternative to the country.
