A Chennai-based company is planning to take legal action against Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy who had yesterday levelled allegations against Home Minister P. Chidambaram and his son Karti on investments in Aircel against which a CBI case is on.
“My client M/s Advantage Strategic Consulting Pvt Ltd (ASCP) had taken notice of the press meet held by Mr. Subramanian Swamy on 26th April, 2012.
The company states that they have placed the matter in the hands of their lawyers to take appropriate legal action immediately,” R. Balachandran, Chartered Accountant of the company, said in a statement.
Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy accussed Home Minister P Chidambaram of helping his son Karti Chidambaram to benefit from the sale of Aircel-Maxis deal.
Reacting to the reports on Karti suing Swamy, the Janata Party supremo said: “How do I know if he is suing, let him sue, chor log hain.”
On Thursday, Swamy made fresh allegations of corruption against Chidambaram, accusing him of delaying permission for the sale of Aircel to Malaysia-based Maxis in 2006 when he was finance minister so that his son Karti was financially benefitted.
Swamy had alleged that there was a “dubious transaction” between a firm “controlled” by Karti and Aircel in March 2006, just before Maxis’ investment of Rs. 4,000 crore.
Chidambaram as finance minister had ensured that Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance on Aircel-Maxis deal be given only after Karti-controlled company got share in the Aircel, he alleged.
