Anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare hits out at the Prime Minister’s Office for claiming a foreign hand backing him, Anna said, “The PMO should reveal which foreign hand is behind me…such baseless statement is not expected from the PMO.”
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) wrote to the Gandhian on the weekend rejecting his demand for a Special Investigation Team or SIT to handle allegations of graft levelled by his aides against the Prime Minister and 14 senior ministers. The letter was sent by Minister of State in the PMO, V Narayansamy. He later told reporters in Chennai that Anna is influenced by “anti-national elements” and bolstered by “foreign forces”.
The veteran Gandhian accused the government of trying to divert the attention from real issues, saying “that is the reason why the PMO is making such comments against me”.
He further said that the government did not intend to make a stringent law which can fight the menace of corruption.
Anna said, “The law should be made and implemented as per the consent of the masses.”
“The government did not take into account our views before bring Lokpal Bill in Parliament,” he further said.
Addressing a press conference, the anti-corruption crusader said that he had sent the file of evidence against the Cabinet ministers to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi as well.
