After her special appearance in Saif Ali Khan’s Love Aaj Kal, Neetu Kapoor, now better known as Ranbir’s mom, is all set to make a full fledged comeback after 30 years with Habib Faisal’s directorial venture Do Dooni Chaar. The film stars husband and wife Rishi and Neetu Kapoor in the lead. “It’s been a long time, but I could not say no to Habib Faisal, the director of the film. He has conceived it very beautifully. Because of my husband, there was a comfort level and it was an interesting journey. It is a story of courage and honesty with many speed breakers,” she adds.
Rishi and Neetu were one of the most popular pairs of Bolly-wood in the 80s. “We did 11 films together,” she says.
Asked if she was nervous facing the camera after such a long time, the veteran actress said, “I was extremely nervous. I kept forgetting my lines. Since I am short sighted, I couldn’t read the script. I realised I could wear glasses off the sets learn my dialogues and then manage without them on the sets. The second day it was better.”
The film is about aspirations and dreams. “I play Kusum Duggal, a middle class wife, her husband is a teacher and we have growing up children. I connected with the role as I hail from a middle class family.” Every woman will identify with her role in the film. “I believe the middle class housewife is Mother India who juggles everything without complaining.”
