Cabinet minister in Mamata Banerjee’s government Manoj Chakraborty has criticized the Chief Minster for not working for the people. He says he is ready to resign and has already spoken to Pranab Mukherjee on the matter.
“The government here has been functioning in a dictatorial manner. I am surprised to know that the two departments have been taken away from me suddenly yesterday. I am hundred per cent satisfied with my own performance,” says Chakraborty.
Chakraborty says he has been “humiliated” after he was stripped of two key portfolios, Parliamentary Affairs and Cottage and Small Scale Industries, and made minister of state for food processing. He even criticized his own party leader Manas Bunia for his double standards referring to his stand during the rift between Trinamool and Congress. He also accused Bunia of seeking patronage from the Trinamool.
The widening rift between Congress and Trinamool Congress came out in the open last week with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee lashing out at her ally at the Centre and said it was free to quit the alliance. The West Bengal Congress had then retorted that it would remain in ministry despite Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee saying door was open for it to quit the alliance.
The Trinamool chief had earlier accused the Congress of spreading canard against her party because it had opposed FDI in retail, petrol price hike and interference in the federal structure. “Congress is spreading canard and is carrying out false propaganda against TC on the issue of assault on the principal of Raigunj University college on January 5 because we opposed FDI in retail, frequent petrol price hikes and total interference into federal structure”.
