CBI tells court for the first time that Bhanwari Devi is dead

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday informed the Rajasthan High Court that Bhanwari Devi had been killed.

Four months after she went missing, the investigating agency, for the first time, has officially informed the court that she has been killed. The next hearing in the case will take place on February 21.

Bhanwari Devi’s body was allegedly burnt by a gang of criminals led by Bishnaram Bishnoi in 30-feet deep carter near Jadola on September 1, 2011, the day she gone missing.

Bhanwari’s son had identified her watch and ear rings after CBI on Saturday recovered key evidences including watch, jewellery parts and body remains allegedly belonging to Bhanwari from Rajiv Gandhi canal near Jodhpur.

Bhanwari was killed at politician’s behest, says CBI

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday confirmed before the Rajasthan High Court that missing nurse Bhanwari Devi was killed at the behest of a politician, sources said.

The agency made its assertion during the hearing in the habeas corpus petition filed by Bhanwari’s husband Amarchand before he was arrested by the CBI on charges of being involved in the conspiracy of his wife’s disappearance, sources said.

“CBI submitted the status report before the court on Tuesday. During the hearing in the petition, the CBI confirmed that the nurse had been killed at the behest of a politician,” a source in the CBI said.
