The man who led the Samajwadi Party to victory in Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav, on Wednesday said that his father Mulayam Singh Yadav would be the new Chief Minister of the state.
Talking to mediapersons after a key Samajwadi Party meet, Akhilesh said that the party had decided to make Mulayam the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
This will be the fourth term of the veteran leader as the Chief Minister of the state.
Earlier, there were reports that Mulayam had recommended Akhilesh as the new CM, however, the final decision was slated to be taken in the party meeting.
The Samajwadi Party on Tuesday routed Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government by winning on 224 seats. It was the biggest victory in the state in 27 years.

The MLAs’ opposition led to the postponement of legislature party meeting to elect the leader till March 9. It was earlier scheduled for Wednesday.
