Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s detractors have been closing ranks. Anti-Modi leaders met at the residence of former Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel to draw up their plan.
Maha Gujarat Janata Party president Gordhan Zadafia was one of the first leaders to reach the BJP veteran’s residence in the state capital.
The anti-Modi camp has been trying to regroup under 78 year old Keshubhai Patel. Some of the leaders have already quit the BJP or have been on the sidelines since Modi took over the reins of the state.
Keshubhai has been in hibernation since he was replaced by Modi in 2001. Lately, he has been speaking against Modi on public platforms. Former Chief Minister Suresh Mehta, former Union minister Kashiram Rana, former state minister Nalin Bhatt are said to be part of the Keshubhai camp.
This is the first time that these leaders have come out openly against Modi. Keshubhai has been banking on the support of the strong Patel community to rattle Modi. The community is organising a grand rally at Dholka in Ahmedabad on June 2.
