Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s wife, Dimple Yadav is all set to get elected unopposed from the Kannauj Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh, as two candidates withdraw from the fray.
After mainstream political parties, including Congress and BSP did not field any candidate against Dimple Yadav, two independent candidates have also withdrawn their nominations.
Surprisingly, the BJP candidate, Jagdeo Singh Yadav, missed out on his nomination as he failed to reach the center in time.
Dimple is all set to be declared the winner from the Kannauj seat on Saturday. The bypoll was slated to take place on June 24.
Earlier, Dimple Yadav was fielded by the Samajwadi Party from Firozabad in the 2009 Lok Sabha election. But she lost to Raj Babbar, a former party colleague who had joined the Congress.
